The Prophecy Book Synopsis ( First Draft) - Beware Spoilers!
The ancient feud between the great
God, Heiden and his nemesis, Lagar, King of the underworld has never been so fickle
since the savage killing of Heiden’s wife and three sons. In an act of
desperation, Heiden sends his only surviving child, Unyae to the garden of
Calhuni, hidden within the world of Unas, a garden created for the Kings of
Calnuthe. Unbeknown to him, his daughter, Unyae has been impregnated by Lagar
and is with child, initiating a prophecy once foretold by Unyae herself. Alone
and pregnant, Unyae gives birth to Heidan and raises her son within the garden,
a son who would abandon her and the garden in search of the great and corrupt
King Islaer of Ruarr, one of the three Kingdoms of Calnuthe. Stricken with
grief and anguish, Unyae walks under the trees of Calhuni alone, until a young
prince enters, in search of the throne. Elieor, heir to the three Kingdoms,
finds the young princess, pale and sickly upon the small island and instantly
binds himself to her. Once crowned and proclaimed High King of Calnuthe, Unyae
sends the young King away and bids him to return in four years if his love
proves true. Elieor returns as promised and with Unyae’s permission takes her
from the garden to the great city of Caci in the south, where they marry and give
birth to Celestine.
In want of the throne of Heaven,
Lagar’s plan to sire a child with Unyae succeeds and with a son, bearing the
blood of Heiden, his plan to take the throne starts to take shape. However he
did not foresee the future event of Celestine’s birth, nor had he been informed
of Unyae’s prophecy and in anger reveals himself to his son Heidan, who serves
under Islaer. Heidan, now fully aware of who he is and the power he wields,
stands away from Islaer with a large following of supporters and sets his eyes
on the throne of Calnuthe. Under disguise and with a planned coup d’état, he
attends Celestine’s name day and poisons the High King and Queen and takes the
throne and Kingdom of Calnuthe. However, consumed with vengeance and wrath, his
plan has one fatal flaw, Celestine and to his horror, the one true heir and
threat is safely taken away from Unas and out of his sight and reach.
In the northern kingdom of Meer,
the High King, Ballour is on the brink of a civil war, engineered by his second
son, Beon, King of Galgor. Known as the mad King, Beon believes his father to
have killed his wife Turtha, in return for her attempt to take Ballour’s life.
In a feud that goes back over a thousand years between the royal house of Meer
and the house of Gaul, Turtha’s attempt on the King’s life and her death brings
the bitter feud to its head and plunges the once peaceful Kingdom of Meer into disarray,
war and bloodshed. Galean, heir to Meer and King of Dulthe has returned to his
land, widowed and exiled from Heaven, to find his own kingdom in a state of
disruption, due to a rebellion in the city of Ballor on the eastern coast,
under the instruction of Lord Leer, a malicious, deceptive and malignant threat
to the city. As he tries to bring stability back to his land, he is secretly
ordered by his once commander, Gabriel to return to Earth and retrieve the babe
he took from the garden of Calhuni, unaware that he and the young Queen are
bound together by fate and a prophecy, foretold by her mother long ago.
Eveline, the name bestowed upon her
by her protector, Galean, has been passed from family to family, her unusual
looks and abilities acting as a deterrent from love and security. At the young
age of ten, she is taken to the quiet village of Keswick and placed under the
care of Estelle, a vivacious woman, author and political activist. What she least’s
expects to find is a brother, who like her, bares strange and unearthly gifts,
that once isolated her from friendships and love. Theodore, unbeknown to
himself was once one of her protectors and a great guardian, known as Cael. By
choice he choose to have his memory erased, choosing to become a young man once
more so that he could protect Eveline. His decision to take up a position under
Gabriel, lost him his reputation among his London friends and most of all his fiancé
and fellow guardian, Jophiel. Theodore finds himself falling in love with
Heiden’s only granddaughter and breaks his oath by marrying her on the eve of
the Second World War. Married and filled with youthful arrogance, Theodore
leaves his young wife and mother in Keswick and joins the RAF, journeying south
to London. A year into his service as a RAF pilot, Theodore rises up through
the ranks and finds himself apart of the elite group A. Unlike his wife, he is
very capable of fitting into society and keeping his unusual gifts to himself,
his wife instead being openly shunned by society as a witch. During a night
raid over London, Theodore’s spitfire is hit and he releases himself from the
cockpit and out into the dark and wet night. With little control, he hits a
building and knocks himself unconscious, later to be found and brought to St
Bartholomew’s Hospital. Recovering from surgery and in a state of trauma,
Theodore receives a hospital visitor by the name of Galean.
Finding his old friend in a
hospital bed, Galean reveals himself to Theodore and takes him through a hovering
door of light, both of them stepping into the dark and cold St. Pauls. Confused
and curious, Theodore follows Galean suspiciously and is brought forth to the
altar, where he is met by Heiden. Heiden brings Theodore back to the garden of
Calhuni, on the night of Unyae’s death and stands by as Theodore’s true identity
is reveal, the veil of deception falling away from Theodore. Enlightened as to
who he is, Cael realises he has broken his oath to Heiden by marrying Eveline.
In turn Heiden, makes it known to both Cael and Galean, the prophecy and all
that it foretells. The prophecy is as follows:
Two
hearts, bound by fate and time shall cast a great light across all seven
corners of the universe. Under the tree of life shall they come, sipping from
the fountain of time, binding themselves to one another, forevermore. Together
they shall become one and one shall overcome all that stands in the way of the
light. Together they will vanquish darkness and reign glorious forever more,
never to be parted. Yet fate is not so easily cemented if bend it must. For man
will try to part what does not belong to him, breaking the bond of eternity,
cursing the light to forever live in chains, bound to the everlasting darkness.
With firm and knowing eyes, Heiden
casts his gaze across at Galean and Galean in response, turns his back on his
master, disgusted by the idea, given it was Celestine who inevitably caused the
deaths of his wife Marsalia and his daughter Rosai. Cael refuses to place his
trust in a prophecy and dismisses Heiden’s warning, angered and secretly
worried, seeing his old friend in a new light. Heiden discloses to Cael that
his identity has been breached by a servant of Lagar and that he has sent his
most formidable servants, Lagmar and Belem after Eveline and orders both Galean
and Cael to return to Keswick and bring Eveline to London, in particular St.
Pauls, where she can be enlightened and taken away from Earth to safety. Galean
reluctant and Cael suspicious agree to Heiden’s plan and leave St Pauls, making
for the residence of Lier, the master of London and old friend. During a
private discussion with Lier, Galean reveals that he killed Lagmar’s son,
Lagman for murdering his wife and daughter, thus why he was exiled. Lier warns
Galean of the danger he is placing himself in, not only will Lagmar be on the
hunt for him, but the prophecy he believes bears truth and if the prophecy is
true, then the dynamics of Galean and Cael’s friendship will change radically.
Not only does Galean pose a threat to Cael, but Cael poses a threat to the
future of Heaven and the Universe, for his fate is written in the stars and it
is dark and terrible. Galean acknowledges his friends wisdom and words of
caution, before Cael enters and exclaims that he will go to Keswick in place of
Cael, who is to unfit to make a journey. Cael, not enamoured by the plan,
unwillingly agrees and stays with Lier. Instead, Cael goes with Lier to St
Barnes Cemetery, where a grand meeting of shadows is taking place, their
leader, Lagmar present. Unknown to both Lier and Cael, Lagmar has Jophiel as
held as hostage, believing her to have information on both Cael and Celestine.
Lier, against Cael’s protestations, uses himself as a distraction so that Cael
can free Jophiel and save her from Lagmar. Cael obeys Lier and saves Jophiel
from the shadows, taking her from the cemetery and bringing her back to Lier’s
home. As both Jophiel and Cael try to re acquaint themselves with one another,
terms being strained and awkward, the body of Lier is distributed before the
gate of his home. Cael receives a letter from Galean instructing him that he
and Eveline are making their way south, via Bristol and onward to Bath.
Together with Jophiel he leaves London for Bath.
In Keswick, Eveline and Estelle are
looking after a war refugee, Belle. Unaware of the mounting danger surrounding her,
Eveline, Belle and their dog, Wordsworth are living a simple and cosy
existence, happy and content with one another. Belle has brought an unseen joy
into Eveline’s life, often shunned and mocked for her looks, Belle sees
straight through both and together they find themselves firm friends. Eveline
has never felt a part of the world, in more ways than one and as the days pass,
she begins to have visions of another world, a garden, large and beautiful,
resting beneath a mountain range in the north. She feels herself bound to this
garden and world, despite it being a figment of her imagination. As her visions
deepen, she is aroused from her sleep by a ball of light. Eveline, follows the
ball of light through the cottage, down the dew covered fields until she comes
to the shores of Lake Derwent water. With the ball of light hovering in mid-air
at the centre of the lake, Eveline is unsure of how to get to it. The ball of
light comes to her aid and forces her onward, until she finds herself walking
on water towards a door. Eveline falls through the door and lands upon a hard,
marble floor. When she arises she finds herself within the palace of Caci, surrounded
by hundreds of people, who are in attendance of her name day service, unbeknown
to her. This is the first time she comes face to face with her parents and in
that moment she has an instant connection. After her vision she is brought back
to Keswick and awakens upon the dew covered grass. This is also the first time
in which she comes face to face with Lagar, who takes a hold of her body and
summons his snake to bite her neck, poisoning her.
When Galean arrives at Estelle’s
cottage, he witnesses Lagar’s presence and alongside a terrified Estelle comes
to Eveline’s aid. This is also one of the first important moments of the story,
in which Eveline and Galean meet. It is a simple introduction, with Eveline
placing a hand upon his heart before falling into unconsciousness. Galean feels
the pull of fate as well and thus begins their destined future. And thus begins
Eveline’s journey, poisoned and pulled towards the strange and distant Galean.
Estelle filled with worry and suspicion, draws forth Galean’s true intentions
and is both relieved and terrified at his words, knowing at heart that both her
adopted son and daughter where distinctly different to others. Estelle, already
prepared to journey south to Bath, to be with her friend Mary who has recently
lost her son in the war, forces Galean to agree with bringing Eveline, Belle
and Wordsworth with her. With the help of the local freemason’s, headed by the
local reverend, Matthew, Galean and Estelle, prepare Eveline, Belle and
Wordsworth for their journey south to Bath, taking the night train to Bristol.
Galean and Eveline form a firm friendship, both lovers of politics, philosophy,
nature and other subjects. And whilst Galean notices a visible change in
Eveline due to the poison, he has no idea that she has been bitten and will
soon die. However her death is not on Lagar’s agenda, no his plan is much
darker, but he needs her to be as vulnerable as possible when he strikes. He
plans to use the prophecy in order to create a division between Galean and
Cael, by which Cael, Lagmar or the possessed Eveline will kill Galean and
therefore initiate the last part of the prophecy.
When the group arrive in Bristol on
the 24th November, 1940, they stay at the Grand Hotel, near to
Castle Park and St Peter’s Church. During their stay, Eveline visits the church
during the late afternoon, being a believer in something bigger than herself.
During her visit, the church is bombed as the Luftwaffe fly over Bristol, known
as the Bristol Blitz. With the city under attack, Galean makes sure that
Estelle and Belle are safe before he ventures forth with Wordsworth into the
night, searching for Eveline. Amongst the rubble of the church, he finds a
disorientated and hurt Eveline and with Wordsworth, carries her from the park,
across the bridge and to a shelter. When they arrive at the shelter, Galean
notices the bite mark upon her neck whilst a local nurse attends to her wounds.
Together, with Wordsworth, they spend the night in the shelter in what is a pivotal
moment in their relationship, Galean hears for the first time, Eveline’s dreams
and visions and realises against his better judgment that he has, despite all
that has occurred and his friendship with Cael, fallen in love with Celestine.
In the morning, Estelle and Belle search the ruins of Bristol for Eveline,
Galean and Wordsworth and are reunited at a shelter. During their re union they
are met with surprise by Theodore and Jophiel. Theodore sees the connection
between his wife and friend and it is at this point, where he begins to altar,
losing sense of who he was and turning into a jealous, suspicious and
controlling man, despite his re-emerging feelings for Jophiel.
The group once re united make for
Bath, settling in Mary’s Georgian house upon Cavendish Road. There stay with
one another is strained, for several reasons. Shadows have been gathering near
to the house, Theodore’s jealousy becomes contagious, Galean’s need to return
to his homeland strengthens and Eveline’s health takes a turn for the worst.
Subtle signs of possession begin to make themselves known among her protectors
and her behaviour begins to altar. She is beginning to die and her body thins
and becomes weak as the days go on. During one of Galean, Cael’s and Jophiels
discussion’s, Eveline overhears Galean and Cael arguing over the prophecy and
becomes enlightened, she also realises that Galean’s wife and daughter were
murdered the night he had rescued her. During a trip to Bath Abbey, Eveline
falls unconscious, the poison taking a hold of her and the demon Nathaniel, who
begins to possess her mind. Her protectors, Ada, Bram and Peter bring her home
to a terrified Estelle. Knowing the only way in which to heal Eveline is to
have an antivenin of Lagar’s snake, Nagtium, Theodore and Jophiel journey to
Oxford, heading to the residence of Professor Vavilov Alexis. They return with
a dozen vials of antivenin, not Nagtium’s but of other snakes. The antivenin is
enough to keep Eveline alive until they can reach St Pauls, however Mary,
oblivious to the real danger holds a fundraising ball. During Theodore and Jophiels
trip, Eveline finds herself dreaming of Galean and within that dream they share
their first kiss, inaugurating the first moment in which Eveline admits to her
feelings for Galean. Galean ever aware of her growing feelings, decides that in
order to protect himself and Eveline he must return to Meer and decides to
leave during the ball. On the night of the ball, Galean and Theodore argue over
the prophecy and Theodore banishes him from the house. Upon leaving, Galean
places a wrapped leather bible under Eveline’s door as a goodbye present for
the bible she lost during the raid. As Eveline, weak and vulnerable makes an
appearance at the ball she spots Galean leaving and goes after him in a despite
bid to make him stay. Under the cover of night, both Galean and Eveline admit
their feelings to one another and bid farewell to each other. Galean bestows
onto Eveline, his mother’s necklace, a golden star, which he explains glows
when you speak your lovers name, he in turn has his fathers. Theodore meanwhile
is in search of Eveline, and along with Jophiel follows her out, entering the
Royal Victoria Park and witnesses both Galean and Eveline kissing, both of
their bodies engulfed in a blaze of light. When both Jophiel and Theodore
return to the ball, two demons enter under disguise and poison the drinks of
Ada, Bram, Peter, Estelle and Theodore, Jophiel forgoing her own to track down
Galean.
During the night, her heart broken
and her protectors, drugged, Nathaniel finally takes control over Eveline and
renders her completely vulnerable, prey to his malicious intent, which is to
kill all of the residents within the house. Belem, known as the child snatcher,
along with another demon, takes both Belle and Theodore from the house to the
cemetery, known as Bath Cemetery. Eveline meanwhile, possessed by Nathaniel,
kills Mary and Estelle. Estelle however finds a vial of antivenin and injects
it into Eveline as she lies dying, bringing Eveline forward and banishing
Nathaniel. Distraught at what she has done, Eveline goes in search of Theodore
and Belle and finds them missing. Drenched in blood she makes her way down the
flights of stairs and out into the cold winter’s night, where she is met by
Nathaniel who knocks her unconscious. Nathaniel takes Eveline to the mortuary
chapel in Bath Cemetery and brings her to Lagar. Jophiel and Galean return to
Cavendish Road to find the house and the murdered bodies of Mary and Estelle.
Together the search Bath until the journey to Bath Cemetery, in which they both
infiltrate the graveyard and mortuary. As they both invade the mortuary they
are aided by fellow guardians, including the great angels, Gabriel and Michael.
Lagmar spots Galean and promises his death before departing. Eveline under the
influence of Lagar, kills Belle before he too departs along with the rest of
the shadows. Jophiel decides to sacrifice herself in order to bring back Belle
and does so with gladness, much to Theodore’s distress, his love for her
longstanding. Michael orders Galean to leave at once and return to his home
upon pain of death. Eveline, unconscious and dying is taken from Bath to St
Pauls, in which she is healed. During her unconscious state, her body placed
before the high altar, beside Belle’s she awakens and is met by a ball of
light. Leaving her physical body behind, she follows the light towards and door
and enters, falling into an abyss of darkness until she lands in the garden of
Calhuni. Eveline is shown through various visions, her mother’s story, she
meets her half-brother, father and witnesses the death of her parents before
being heralded once more into an abyss of darkness to which she finds herself
awakening with the great temple of Jerusalem, kneeling before Heiden, her
grandfather. Heiden reveals who he is and enlightens Eveline as to who she
truly is, also explaining to her the importance of the prophecy and the
importance of her returning to Unas, to claim back the throne of Calnuthe from
her half-brother.
Meanwhile, Galean secretly visits
St Pauls, acknowledging the presence of Lagmar and his fellow shadows outside.
In a need to know if she is alive or not he comes out of hiding and spends time
beside her unconscious body, biding her farewell. Just as he leaves, Theodore
sees him and lashes out at his old friend, stabbing him in the side with a
blade. As Galean falls to the ground in pain, shadows penetrate the cathedral,
bringing the roof down on top of the church. Lagmar upon finding Galean, drags
him out of the cathedral onto the steps outside, where he, in front of his
master and fellow shadows, terrorises the dying prince. Eveline awakens from
her sleep to witness Galean falling to the ground and being dragged away by
Lagmar. In response she goes after him, fighting Theodore and knocking him out.
Outside as Galean is being terrorised, Eveline runs out to protect him from
Lagmar and Lagar but fails, her magic too weak in comparison to Lagar. Gabriel
and Michael come to her aid, but it is too late, Eveline watches on in horror
as Galean is to her eyes killed. In the morning, Theodore brings Eveline home
to Keswick. Over the next four months, Eveline finds herself immersed in a dark
episode of depression and only for the local reverend, Matthew does she start
to come to life once more, unaware that it was indeed her husband who first
struck Galean. During one of Matthew’s visits, Eveline over hears him speaking
about Galean, that he has received news that he is alive. Eveline listens on as
Theodore dismisses the news. Still too weak to argue with her agitated husband,
Eveline reluctantly agrees to travel north to Scotland with him for a while,
before heading to the island of Anglesey, to the school of Ravinston and to the
stone circle as her grandfather instructed her, if ever she wished to travel back
to her world. Theodore spies Eveline’s necklace, given to her by Galean and
thus a heated argument occurs in which Eveline finds out that her husband
stabbed Galean first. In secrecy with the reverend, she agrees to go with him
to Anglesey, without Theodore. Under the cover of night, Eveline leaves Keswick
and Theodore and embarks upon her journey south to Anglesey with Matthew.
The prologue opens with King
Ballour by his eldest son’s bed, within the palace of Meerethe. He receives a
letter from the High Priest, Anvin to which he is told that Beon’s army is strengthen
with the aid of King Raven of Taer and that he is preparing to strike, now
knowing that Galean is dying. He is also told that the black witch, Ethla is
rumoured to be travelling to the dark forest of Dulga, to awaken an ancient
beast from its sleep.
The End or if you will the
Beginning.
